The Myokine's mistary
What translation teaches beyond words
As a translator, I often come across amazing details that I wouldn't have learned otherwise. Translation is about research: finding the precise term, the right context, the correct formulation.
When translation meets medical knowledge
A continuous process of research
Through my medical education, I have developed a real curiosity about anything that explains how our body works. One of the cool pieces of information I learned during a diabetes seminar is the different ways our body regulates blood sugar.
A fascinating discovery about the human body
How muscles communicate with the pancreas
During the seminar I learned that our muscles, and especially the triceps, can “talk” to our pancreas.
When you exercise, muscles release a substance called myokines, a hormone that can directly improve pancreatic performance. How amazing is that? Our body really is a fascinating machine!
The unique perspective of a medical translator
I do not discover this kind of information as a patient or a regular reader. I learn about them because I am a translator specialised in the medical field. Every time I work on a translation and dive into the latest study, clinical recommendations, articles, etc.
And every time I am astonished—by the complexity of the human body, by the precision of the scientific language, and by the chance I have as a translator to forward different messages.
Supporting translators in their daily work
The role of Swantrad
The Swantrad platform illustrates how this work can be organized and supported.
For example, Swantrad also secures payments for translators and interpreters.
Alternatively, I often reflect on how Swantrad can be a practical partner in daily work, and the article : Devenir Expert Swantrad highlights concrete benefits.
